Shanks for B♭ and A; crooks for A♭, G, F and E; coupler for E♭ to be used with crook for F. Valve type: 3 Stölzel valves in V-formation, spring inside hollow stem, alignment by screwed pins which also locate lower end of spring; metal partitions (coquilles). France. Circa 1840. Shanks, crooks and coupler inscribed with identifying letters on diamond shaped plate: shanks (a) "SI"; (b) "LA"; crooks (c) "LA B"; (d) "SOL"; (e) "FA"; (f) "MI"; coupler (g) "MI B". With wooden fitted case, probably original. Valve touchpieces missing; lug broken off short shank (a). Usable pitch: Plays at A4 = 435 Hz or slightly lower.
