DescriptionTechnical description: Light wood varnished walnut brown; 3 sections; 7 large finger-holes plus thumb-hole, crudely made; lip crudely cut up with beard built round opening; large windway. Has a home-made look. Repair History: The finger-hole for L3 has been plugged and re-drilled higher up. Performance characteristics: Coarse tone, but fairly well tuned. Usable pitch: A⁴ = c 425 Hz (c 60 cents below A⁴ = 440 Hz / c 40 cents above A⁴ = 415 Hz). Specific usage history: This is possibly one of Arnold Dolmetsch's prototype recorders built at low pitch. |
