Technical description: Brass; flat rim contour; maximum bite curvature 1.75; intermediate cup shape; maximum throat curvature c 6. Cup volume 15869; shape quotient 1.315. Repair History: Shank has been extended by 30mm from its original 40mm, at a lower standard of workmanship. Overall size: length 120.4; external diameter 46.4. Sounding length: cup depth c 35. Bore: cup diameter 31.2; minimum diameter 9.0. Depth of taper: shank depth 70. Diameter of taper: maximum 15.3; minimum 12.1. No inscriptions. Purchased by lender and possibly formerly used with saxhorn contrebasse (3845). Specific literature references: Vichy auction catalogue 13.6.98 lot 210.
