DescriptionTechnical description: Cocus wood with ivory ferrules and silver keys. Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell. Ivory mouthpiece with silver ferrule and long tenon to fit in the brass tuning slide of the flask-shaped barrel. 12-key system plus hinge C key and alternative G♯₃/E♭₅ for L4. L0: T; speaker. L1: T; throat A♮; throat A♭. L2: T. L3: T; E♭₄/B♭₅. L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅; G♯₃/E♭₅. R1: T; side F₄/C₆; side trill key for throat A-B♮ and B♭-C. R2: T;, R3: T; B♭₃/F♮₅; side B♮₃/F♯₅. R4: F₃/C₅; G♯₃/E♭₅. Keyhead type: saltspoon. Keymount type: Plate mounted pillars and screws. Upper and lower section stamped with JF monogram / "GODFROY / AINÉ" in broken-line oval cartouche / asterisk of five forked radials . On the bell stamped the same way and "59", the serial number some distance below; mouthpiece stamped "J. TELFORD". Upper section cracked. Ivory bell rim and upper section lower ferrule broken. Crack in lower section from hole for R1 to top. Ligature doesn't fit the mouthpiece. Usable pitch: A₄ = c 440 Hz. Illustration references:Vol. 1p.93. Previous ownership: Purchased by H.I.
