Decorated silver medallion plate on bell, inscribed "WENZEL TOMSCHIK / Kgl. Hof u. Militär Musik Instrumenten Fabrikant / WIEN / XV. Neubaugürtel / No 35".
Decorative features: Elegant floral design on fixing knobs of 1st and 2nd valve rotors.
Fixing knob of 3rd valve rotor presumably not original, as it lacks the floral pattern of the other two.
Usable pitch: Plays c 50 cents above A4 = 440 Hz with tuning slide in.
Performance characteristics: Intonation good. More constricted response than normal BBb bass in middle and high registers. Low register has hard bright sound, lacking weight. Staccato bass passages feasible.
Purchased by lender with and possibly formerly used with mouthpiece (2340).
