DescriptionTechnical description: Boxwood with ivory ferrules and brass keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell. Mouthpiece: socket-type, of dark wood (probably cocus), short table, grooved for cord with 9 grooves; overall size: 59.8mm, aperture 26.6mm, from tip to beginning of table 37.9. Waisted barrel, with one ivory ferrule. Upper section: speaker liner projects almost to the centre of bore. Lower section: wide ivory ferrule, no thumb rest. Levers for L4, tone-hole and key for R4 mounted in a bell-shaped swelling. Bell discontinuous with an ivory rim. L0: T; speaker. L1: T; throat A♮. L2: T. L3: T; E♭₄/B♭₅. L4: cross C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; zig-zag F♯₃/C♯₅. R1: T; side trill key for throat A-B♮. R2: T; cross B♮₃/F♯₅. R3: T; cross B♭₃/F♮₅. R4: T; G♯₃/E♭₅ Keymount type: blocks with bell-shaped swelling. Keyhead type: round flat. Usable pitch: A₄ = c 450 Hz. |
