DescriptionTechnical description: Brass, imitation gilt or lacquered finish. Inner slides chrome plated, with stockings. Bell flare cross-section octagonal from c 40mm from bell end to the main tuning-slide. Water-key with cable for actuation from playing position. Telescopic stay on inner slides. Slide lock. Screwed bell lock at joint. Valve type: Rotary valve with thong for thumb actuation. Repair History: Water- key push replaced, dents in bell ameliorated, 1998. Overall size: 1165; bell 180. Bore: at c 85 mm from mouthpiece receiver, 11.0; descending slide, 11.2; ascending slide, 11.2; v.t.s. bore, 13.2; m.t.s. bore, 14.7 - 18.8. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 11.5 - 11.2. Inscribed on both sides of counterweight "EXAKTA". Decorative features: Extensive use of octagonal stays and ferrules, with engraved pattern on alternate flats. With fitted case, probably original. Water key push replaced, dents in bell ameliorated, 1998. Purchased by lender with and probably formerly used with mouthpiece (3670). |
