DescriptionTechnical description: brass; angle between axis of mouthpipe / crook receiver and axis of bell 126°; instrument body 1½ coils plus tuning slide. With terminal crooks (4668a) 1-coil, (4668b) 1-coil, (4668c) 1-coil, (4668d) 2-coil, (4668e) 2-coil, (4668f) 2-coil, (4668g) 3-coil, (4668h) 3-coil, and couplers (4668i) 1-coil which does not fit or belong in the set, (4668j) 1-coil. Decorative features: bell interior painted in red and gold lacquer. Signature/Marks: Inscribed on bell garland "COURTOIS NEVEU AINÉ RUE DES VIEUX AUGUSTINES À PARIS"; on crooks (4668a) "SI", (4668b) "LA", (4668c) "SOL", (4668d) "FA", (4668e) "M.D", (4668f) "M.", (4668g) "RE", (4668h) "UT"; on coupler (4668j) "SB". With original fitted wooden case. Bequeathed with mouthpiece (4669). |
