Bore: at c 50mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 10.2; expanding by 100mm from mouthpiece receiver to bore c 10.7; descending slide, 11.5; ascending slide, 11.5; joint, 10.3 (constricted by repair c 40mm before joint; m.t.s. bore, 12.0 - 13.6. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.2 - 11.4. Inscribed on bell "CLASS / A / NEW STANDARD" / "50 MEDALS OF HONOUR" within banner / monogram FB / "BESSON & CO. / Prototype / LONDON / ENGLAND" / five-pointed star / "British Throughout"; on mouthpiece receiver ferrule "BESSON & CO. / BREVETES / 14658"; on bell section at joint "14658".
