Description

Conical bore. Technical description: Silver-plated brass. Descending slide has fixed inner slide with stocking at bottom, moving outer slide (as usual); ascending slide has moving inner slide with stocking at top, fixed outer slide (opposite of usual); both inner slides have expanding bore. Tuning-slide legs have expanding bore, although externally cylindrical. Water-key on main slide bow. The model with an 8-inch bell is described in the maker's brochure as `Symphony model (wide bore)'. Overall size: 1164; bell 202. Sounding length: minimum 2696. Bore: at c 50mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 10.9; at c 300mm from mouthpiece receiver, step to c 11.5; bottom of descending inner slide, 11.8; descending outer slide, 12.8; bottom of ascending inner slide, 12.1 (estimate); at 1348mm from either end, 12.65 (estimate); top of ascending inner slide, 12.8; ascending outer slide, 14.0; (joint tenon locally constricted); m.t.s. leg proximal, 15.9; m.t.s. leg distal, 16.4; at c 639mm from bell end, 17.9; m.t.s. leg proximal, 18.5; m.t.s. leg distal, 19.0; at 33.6mm from bell end, 91.2.
