According to the hallmark, assayed in 1863. Overall size: 330; bell 136. Bore: m.t.s. 11.7; v.t.s.(3,2,1) 11.7. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.2 11.2. Inscribed on bell "Hy. DISTIN & Co. / MAKERS / 9 & 10 Gt. Newport Str. / St. Martins Lane / LONDON", all within wreath, and underneath "No. 5626"; on side of 2nd valve casing with words forming an ellipse "DISTIN * LONDON *", inside "MAKER" and "5626"; on side of valve casings and top and bottom caps "1", "2", "3". Full four symbol hallmark including letter "h" on bell near edge, and "HD"; lion symbol of hallmark stamped on many components, usually with "HD" and sometimes with the queen's head symbol. With fitted hard case, covered in black imitation crocodile skin. |
