DescriptionTechnical description: Silver-plated brass. With water-key. Inner slide and stockings plated. Weight of outer slide 275g. Overall size: 1150; bell 147. Sounding length: minimum 2629. Bore: at c 50mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 9.6; expanding by 100mm from mouthpiece receiver to bore c 10.6; descending slide, 11.4; ascending slide, 11.4; m.t.s. bore, 11.8 - 13.4; at c 459 from bell end, 16.2. B = 0.68. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 11.6 - 10.8. Inscribed on bell "G.H. PACE / 181 WARDOUR STREET / OXFORD ST. LONDON W". Decorative features: Floral and foliage engraving on bell; embellished stay mounts. With drop in case, not a good fit. Bell pipe slightly bent. Performance characteristics: Good response; good upper register. Usable pitch: Old Philharmonic pitch. Given with and possibly formerly used with mouthpiece (1771).
