Associated as a pair with A clarinet (138) no longer in the Collection, but see entry for A clarinet (137) below; the barrel now associated with (126) probably originated with Bb clarinet (125). Bb clarinet (125), a similar instrument on loan to the Galpin Society Permanent Collection by Lyndesay Langwill, was removed by him for subsequent sale at Christies in 1973; the correct barrel for (126) was probably taken in error. The surviving mouthpiece is probably correct for (126). |
