Description3 valves. Technical description: Brass. Tuning-slide at near bow. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves; bottom sprung. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was model 16, made in a batch of twelve. Overall size: 566 (tuning-slide in, and without shank); bell 137 Sounding length: with F shank, minimum 1741. Bore: at c 102mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 10.8; v.t.s. 11.3; m.t.s. 11.3 - 12.3; at 870mm from bell end, c 11.5; at c 319mm from bell end, 16.3; at 19.9mm from bell end, 81.5. B = 0.73. Bell cutoff = 1100 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. on shank 11.6 - 11.0; shank receiver taper 12.6 - 12.0. Inscribed on bell "SOLBRON / (REGISTERED) / CLASS A", trumpet & banner trademark, "BOOSEY & CO / MAKERS. LONDON / 115312 / British Throughout". Inscribed on valves "27", "26" with trumpet & banner trademark and "89574", "25". Inscribed on valve pistons "SPECIAL BRONZE". Playing accessories: With shank for F. Possible crooks for E, Eb etc. missing. Performance characteristics: Valved notes well in tune. The input impedance and harmonicity of the air-column resonances are reported in Myers and Campbell 2006. Usable pitch: Playable at Old Philharmonic pitch; slide allows use at A⁴ = 439 Hz.
