Technical description: Brass. Daniel system of compensation - differing from that of cornet (2932). The mouthpipe leads via the main tuning-slide through the lower ports of the 1st valve and the 2nd valve, which act as normal, to the 3rd valve. If the 3rd valve is not operated, the windway leads to the bell. If the 3rd valve is operated, the windway passes via the 3rd valve tuning-slide into the top port of the 1st valve; when the 1st valve is operated, a compensating loop is added to the windway; there is then a tube leading back from the 1st valve round the side of the 2nd valve to the 3rd valve and thence to the bell. With fitting for music card-holder. Valve type: 3 Périnet-type valves, bottom sprung; alignment by key on piston. Silver-plated pistons.
