DescriptionTechnical description: Rosewood with german silver ferrules and keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell. Named cocus wood mouthpiece marked for a ligature presumably original. Metal tuning-slide between barrel and upper tenon. Lower section socket strengthened with a wide german silver sleeve. Curved speaker, speaker hole at the front of the instrument, speaker liner projects into bore, tube in thumb-hole projects into bore. All tone-holes for the right hand covered with plates. Articulated C♯₄/G♯₅, F♯₅-G♯₅ trill for R1. Patent C sharp mechanism. 13 keys, no rings. L0: T; speaker. L1: T; throat A♮. L2: T; throat A♭. L3: T; cross E♭₄/B♭₅. L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅. R1: plate + correspondence to C♯₄/G♯₅; side E♭₄/B♭₅; side F₄/C₆; side trill key for throat A-B♮ and B♭-C. R2: plate + vent. R3: plate corresponding to vent (forked B♭₃/F♮₅); cross B♭₃/F♮₅. R4: G♯₃/E♭₅; F₃/C₅. Keymount type: screwed in pillars. Keyhead type: modern. Crack in barrel. Screw to fix lower section missing. Pair with (5081) but not matched. |
