DescriptionTechnical description: Brass; single coil; wired bell rim. Two rings for cord or banner. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was "Herald's Trumpet", made in a batch of two. Overall size: 678; bell 133. Sounding length: 1977. Bore: at c 25mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 10.7; expanding by 100mm from mouthpiece receiver to bore c 11.2; at 989mm from bell end, c 11.2; at c 370mm from bell end, 15.8. B = 0.72. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 11.8 - 10.8. Inscribed on bell "TRADE MARK / BOOSEY" in trumpet & banner trademark, "BOOSEY & CO / MAKERS / 295 REGENT STT / LONDON / 82500". Decorative features: Wound with green cord, with tassels. Performance characteristics: Up to 12th natural note quite playable with mouthpiece (2526); harder to get high notes with a standard trumpet mouthpiece. Usable pitch: Plays 75 cents above A⁴ = 440 Hz. Purchased by lender with, probably formerly used with and possibly supplied by manufacturer with mouthpiece (2526); also possibly formerly used with and possibly supplied by manufacturer with mouthpiece (2528); purchased by lender with and formerly used with instrument (2527) which is similar.
