DescriptionTechnical description: The concave, round, ironwood (?) stick ends in a short, swan head with an ivory headface. Its screw-mechanism, squared (without sharp corners) ebony frog has a silver-plated (?) ferrule, mother-of-pearl slide, silver (?) heelplate, and mother-of-pearl eye. The octagonal ebony button has a rim, two silver (?) rings, and a mother-of-pearl button eye. The frog is a later replacement. The stick has gold and copper-coloured thread winding.
Measurements: Weight: 57g. Hair length: 624mm. Balance point: 255mm. Head height: 22.95mm. Head width: 8.6mm. Face length: 27.45mm. Tip diameter: 5.7mm. Frog diameter: 8.6mm (measured at 150mm due to thread winding). Nipple range: 0.85 to 1.55mm. Period of oscillation: 1.35. Distance from pivot to tail: 68.25mm. Button length: 15.1mm. Ferrule width: 12.9mm. Frog + stick height: 25.3mm. Frog top length: 43.95mm. Repair History: Open frog (?) replaced by current frog. Winding added at same date as new frog (?).
Inscriptions: The stick as "\\" scratched into the stick between the winding and the mortise under the frog.
The screw and stick do not fit together well, the ferrule is worn on the thumb side, and part of the top back corner (thumb side) is chipped off. The frog is scratched and marked by liquid on the thumb side, and the finger-side eye is slightly sunk into frog. There is no ferrule wedge.
Open frog (?) replaced by current frog. Winding added at same date as new frog (?).
