Nominal pitch: Bb. 3 valves. Maker: Boosey & Co. London. 1899. Serial number: instrument 56351; valves 47176. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was "Bb Min Cornet" Model A10 made by Jacob in a batch of 6. Overall size: 216; bell 94 96. Sounding length: minimum 1293; : overall length of shank 82.6. Bore: shank () at c mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) ; shank () at distal end, ; Bore: instrument body at c 30mm from shank/crook receiver (local minimum bore), 10.3; m.t.s. at c 297mm from shank/crook receiver, tuning slide bore 11.6; centre of valve cluster at c 646mm from shank/crook receiver, v.t.s. bore (3,2,1) 11.6; at 647mm from bell end, c 11.6; at c 299mm from bell end, 16.4. Stamped on bell "CLASS A" / trumpet and banner trademark incorporating "TRADE MARK" and "BOOSEY" / "LIGHT VALVE / BOOSEY & Co. / MAKERS / 295 REGENT STT. /LONDON / 56351"; on side of 2nd valve casing: trumpet and banner trademark incorporating "TRADE MARK" and "BOOSEY" / "47176"; on side of valve casings and top and bottom caps "4", "5", "6"; on top caps "PATENT". Decorative features: floral embellishment around inscription on bell. Purchased by lender with cornet mouthpiece (4518).
