DescriptionTechnical description: A Japanese three-string plucked lute also called samisen in the Kansai area of Kyoto and Osaka. The body is made from four convex pieces of wood made into a rectangluar form. The front and back are covered in skin which is glued and tacked to the drame. The corners of the body are sharp. Long, fretless neck passes through the body. The 'heel' of the neck has decorative metal border. Originally with three pegs. |
