DescriptionThis violin is a fairly crudely-made instrumenet. Its soundboard is made of spruce; its back and ribs of sycamore; its neck and scroll of beech; its fingerboard of stained fruitwood; its tailpiece of ebony; and its pegs and endbutton of rosewood. The soundboard is made of wide grained spruce with crudely cut f-holes and ebony/sycamore/ebony purfling. The back is made from two pieces of wood that are poorly joined in the centre. The scroll is poorly cut and the fingerboard, which is composed of two pieces glued on top of each other, is very flat. The instrument is covered in a reddish brown varnish.
Measurements: Neck length 118mm; fingerboard length 247mm, width at nut 21.7mm, at bottom 40.0mm. Soundboard arch 13mm; back arch 12mm.
No inscriptions.
Playing accessories: chin-rest, 4 fine tuners.
Some woodworm damage.
