DescriptionTechnical description: Boxwood; 4 sections; `electrum' (natural alloy of gold and silver) key; 5 ivory ferrules plus cap; oval embouchure-hole. Keymount type: ring; SATK. Keyhead type: flat square. Signature marks: Stamped on head "KEY / LONDON", with unicorn head; stamped on body with initialled(?) sun ["G -"] and "GOULDING & CO"; stamped on foot "ELECTRUM - KEY". Repair History: Ivory spacer (third ferrule) made by J. & R. Glen (to lower pitch); foot ferrule replaced; head ferrule and socket wound with twine to inhibit crack. Performance characteristics: Range D⁴ - A⁶. Plays well throughout range, but with a slightly muffled sound. Usable pitch: A⁴ c 440 Hz (c 439 Hz).
