Technical description: Membrane of calfskin. Bridge of maple with a brass saddle. Metal tone ring with eight tension hooks and brackets which attach to the outer rim. The outer rim is of stained maple, and surrounds the head and encloses the back. In the centre of the back is a metal button. The tension of the strings is held by a metal plate which is screwed to the bottom of the rims, and has eight hooks in two rows of four near the top. The metal screws at the sides from the tone ring no longer touch the rim. The heel, neck and head are of one piece of mahogany. The heel flows smoothly into the neck and the neck flows smoothly into the head. The top of the head is veneered in black stained holly. There are metal machine heads with ivory buttons. The nut is bone. The fingerboard is black stained holly. The neck is 216mm long, 31mm wide at the nut and 43.5mm wide at the body join. There are 17|frets. There are mother-of-pearl position markers at frets 3, 5, 7, 10 and 12.
