DescriptionTechnical description: Boxwood; 5 sections; silver keys; 5 ivory ferrules plus cap; graduated, wood-covered tuning-slide; graduated screw-stopper; metal-lined head; irregular oval embouchure-hole; overlapping low C/C♯ touches; attractive grain. Keymount type: ring/knob. Keyhead type: pewter plug, with metal-lined key-holes. Stamped "METZLER / LONDON / 105. WARDOUR ST", with "PATENT" on head ferrule and foot; tuning-slide gradations stamped "4", "5" and "6". Overall size: 659mm Sounding length: embouchure to foot, 582mm Bore: conical Performance characteristics: Range C⁴ - C⁷. Notes from B♭⁶ upwards speak with difficulty. R3 tends to hit low C and C♯ keys slightly. Otherwise plays well. Usable pitch: On 6, A⁴ c 449 Hz; on 5, A⁴ c 444 Hz; on 4, A⁴ c 440 Hz. Stamped "METZLER / LONDON / 105.
