DescriptionTechnical description: Oblong box. Sides of solid mahogany. Soundboard and baseboard of veneered mahogany, thickness 3. Bridges of beech. 12 strings in 4 sets of three. Hitchpins made from iron nails. Square-headed tuning-pins diameter 5.1. Two sound-holes diameter 37. The right-hand bridge has blue paint on it, done after the instrument was strung for each of the string groupings, with the chord names G, A, and D under three of the sets. Overall size: 649. Body length: 649. Body width: 204. Body depth: 57 (box), 72 (including bridge). String length: 532. No inscriptions. Box made by Roberts, instrument completed by Cooke using piano wire and other components then available from Mickleburgh's music shop, Stokes Croft, Bristol. Given with beater (3586).
