DescriptionTechnical description: The round, concave, varnished pernambuco stick screw mechanism ends in a modern head with an ivory headface. The stick mortise extends beyond the frog, towards the button. The screw-mechanism, rounded, ebony frog has a silver ferrule with a wooden ferrule wedge, a silver heelplate, a nickel underslide, a mother-of-pearl slide, nickel decorative eye rings, and mother-of-pearl decorative eyes. The ebony button has metal rings, a pink, mother-of-pearl button eye and is octagonal with a rim. Measurements: Weight: 59g. Hair length: 640mm (measured from ferrule although the ferrule wedge has come out, slightly shortening the hair). Balance point: 276mm. Head height: 24.0mm. Head width: 9.9mm. Face length: 23.3mm. Tip diameter: 6.1mm. Frog diameter: 8.5mm. Nipple range: 1.45 to 17mm. Period of oscillation: 1.36. Distance from pivot to tail: 73.2mm. Button length: 15.3mm. Ferrule width: 12.45mm. Frog + stick height: 26.8mm. Frog top length: 42.4mm. Repair History: The screw eye was probably moved as there is an extra, unused hole for a screw eye in front of the current one. Inscriptions: The pattern "\\\\" is carved into the bottom of the stick near the frog. Some varnish has been chipped off and there are scratches on the stick. The screw eye was probably moved as there is an extra, unused hole for a screw eye in front of the current one. Given with and probably formerly used with violin (3040).
