DescriptionTechnical description: Varnished wood; 3 sections (head and two halves of body) glued together to form large acorn shape; 2 windways; 2 windows; 6 finger-holes (3 on each half of body, with inner wall between), 2 thumb-holes and 2 very small vent-holes. Performance characteristics: Gives scale of C♯ on left hand section, and F♯ (a fourth higher) on right hand section. Usable pitch: Sounding A⁴ = c 444 Hz (c 15 cents above A⁴ = 440 Hz). Repair History: Wax inserted in lowest right-hand finger-hole, to adjust intonation. |
