Technical description: Silver-plated brass; round rim contour; maximum bite curvature 1.0; cuspoid cup shape with smoothly blended throat. Cup volume 2941; shape quotient 1.078. Overall size: length 64.7; external diameter 22.6. Sounding length: cup depth c 27; grain length 0; backbore length c 27. Bore: cup diameter 16.6; minimum diameter 4.7 at c 38. Depth of taper: shank depth c 33. Diameter of taper: maximum shank external diameter 9.1; minimum shank external diameter 7.4. Stamped at top of taper (only part legible) "HAWKES & SON LONDON". Lent with and possibly formerly used by lender with Vienna horn (4461).
