Description3 valves, over the shoulder model. Klemm is considered to have been a dealer rather than a maker; the instrument may well actually have been made in Markneukirchen, Saxony. Technical description: Brass; over-the-shoulder model. Valve type: 3 rotary valves without cork buffers. Overall size: 1468; bell 300. Sounding length: minimum 3829. Bore: mouthpipe at c 28mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 12.6; centre of valve cluster at c 251mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (1,2,3) 15.0; m.t.s. at c 506mm and at c 1213mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bores 15.0; 1915mm from bell end, c 26.8; c 1530mm from bell end, 37.9. B = 0.42. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 14.0 - 13.0. Inscribed on bell "Klemm & Bro. / Philada.". Usable pitch: Plays at c 60 cents above A4 = 440 Hz. Purchased by lender with mouthpiece (3529).
