Technical description: Boxwood; 2 sections (register is removable); graduated register; metal-lined hole for D♯ key; 2 ivory ferrules; both parts metal-lined, register lining sliding over foot lining. Keymount type: ring. Keyhead type: [pewter plug].

General usage of type: The register is set at the number corresponding to that chosen for the screw and tuning-slide settings, to aid intonation.
