Description4 valves + bell change. Technical description: Silver-plated brass. Both large and small bells detachable and rotatable with ligature fixing, angled at nearly 90° from upwards. Water-keys on 3rd valve tuning-slide, main tubing at outlet of 4th valve, and both main tuning-slides. Complete with music card holder. 2 loops for sling. Valve type: 4 Périnet valves, 5th valve Périnet-type; bottom sprung, with ports flattened to reduce required travel; alignment by slot at top of piston engaging round pin fixed on inner cap, this cap being aligned by a key on rim of cap fitting into a slot at top of casing bore. Overall size: 810; bells 159 and 279. Sounding length: minimum to small bell 2798; minimum to large bell 2727. Bore: mouthpipe at c 25mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 11.0; centre of 5 valve cluster at c 318mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (1,2,3,4) 14.3. Small bell m.t.s. at c 1110mm and at c 1308mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 14.3; 1399mm from small bell end, c 14.2; c 492mm from small bell end, 20.1. B = 0.67 (small bell). Large bell m.t.s. at c 573mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 15.2; m.t.s. at c 780mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 18.2; 1364mm from large bell end, c 29.7; c 921mm from large bell end, 42.0. B = 0.41 (large bell). Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.2 - 11.2. Inscribed on large bell "MADE BY / C.G.CONN LTD / ELKHART IND. / U.S.A."; on attachment ferrule of large bell "7674" and on mating ferrule of instrument body "7674" (the first two figures imperfectly stamped); on side of valve casings "1", "2", "3", "4"; on side of 2nd valve casing "358215" and "PAT. APD FOR". Decorative features: Mother of pearl buttons, foliage pattern around inscription on large bell, In original fitted hard case, black artificial leather covered.
