DescriptionTechnical description: Red varnished maple or cocus with german silver ferrules and keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, curved metal crook, upper section, lower section and bell. Original mouthpiece, german model, grooved for cord with 24 grooves. Upper section: Plate on thumb-hole, because it is too wide to be covered by the thumb. Twin hole for speaker key and one vent key for a better intonation of throat B♭. Two throat A♭ keys to offer the player the English fingering (L2) or the Continental (L1). Additional side key for E♭₄/B♭₅. Plate for L3, because the tone-hole is to wide to be covered by the third finger. Plate on R1, because the tone-hole is too far away from R2. Patent C sharp; chromatic extension keys on R0 with open-standing C and D, closed-standing D♯ and C♯. Black plastic rollers on L4/R4 touchpieces. Thumb rest and extension keys with green felt. L0: Plate; speaker corresponding with first ring. L1: T + ring + vent; throat A♮; throat A♭. L2: T + ring + vent; long tailed throat A♭; additional cross key for F₄/C₆. L3: Plate; cross E♭₄/B♭₅. L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅. R0: C₃; C♯₃; D₃; D♯₃. R1: Plate; side F₄/C₆; side E♭₄/B♭₅; side trill for throat A-B♮ and B♭-C; additional touchpiece for C♯₄/G♯₅. R2: T + spectacle. R3: T + spectacle; B♭₃/F♮₅; side B♮₃/F♯₅. R4: F₃/C₅; G♯₃/E♭₅. Keymount type: pillars. Keyhead type: modern. Serial number: 3933. Overall size: height c 1005. Bore: 16.0. Stamped with crown "Heckel" crown / Biebrich / MADE IN / GERMANY", and at back "Heckel / Ws ges geschütz / 3933". With shaped leather effect case, fitted. Repair History: Ligature does not belong to the instrument, the mouthpiece has grooves for cord. Usable pitch: A₄ = c 442 Hz. Performance characteristics: Good playing instrument.
