DescriptionTechnical description: Silver-plated brass; plated inner slides. Ligature fitting at joint. Handle of dark wood with light wood in places; ridged grip. Repair History: Handle retaining nut a replacement. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was model B4042, made in a batch of six. Overall size: 1307; bell 187. Bore: at c 25mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 11.4; descending slide, 12.2; ascending slide, 12.2; m.t.s. bore, 16.3 - 18.1. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.2 - 11.5. Inscribed on bell "Imperial / Class A" / hawk-and-trumpet trademark / "Boosey & Hawkes / Ltd / Makers / 295 Regent St / London.W.1 / 163625"; on inner slide at joint "1". Decorative features: Embellished ferrules, main bow guard and slide bow guard. With black side opening shaped case with brown plush lining; not original. Usable pitch: Old Philharmonic pitch. |
