Description3 valves. Technical description: silver-plated brass; water-key on both alternative main tuning slides; fitting for music card holder. Shorter main tuning-slide with F.E♭ quick-change valve in slide bow; longer main tuning-slide for 8-ft C used with set of three longer alternative valve tuning-slides. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, top sprung with compression spring in hollow stem; alignment by 3 unequal lugs on spring anchor plate. Repair History: repair or modification to mouthpipe, with insensitive insertion of a short length of nickel-plated tube, extending air-column length by c 10mm. Overall size: 405 perpendicular to bell; bell 278. Sounding length: minimum 1874. Bore: mouthpipe at c 30mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 8.4; m.t.s. at c 405mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 11.6; centre of valve cluster at c 748mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (1,2,3) 11.6; at 937mm from bell end, c 13.4; at c 629mm from bell end, 18.9. B = 0.53. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 10.0 - 9.1. Inscribed on bell "KING / MADE BY / THE / H.N. WHITE Co / CLEVE,D / O."; on side of valve casings and upper stems "1", "2", "3"; on lower stems "1 / 75137", "2 / 75137", "3 / 75137"; on 2nd valve casing "KING / MADE BY / H.N. WHITE / CLEVE'D. O. / 75137"; on distal ferrules of both m.t.s. "75137"; on casing of quick change valve "460" and arrow to top cap inscriptions "F" and "Eb"; on one leg of each v.t.s. "C". Decorative features: mother of pearl buttons; foliage motif around inscription on bell. With fitted hard case, possibly original. Purchased with, probably formerly used with, and possibly supplied by maker with mouthpiece (4230). |
