Description3 valves. Technical description: Brass with plain german silver garland, some ferrules, etc. Valve type: 3 rotary valves; cork buffers mounted on valve top caps. Overall size: 768; bell 281. Sounding length: minimum 3610. Bore: mouthpipe at c 65mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) c 12.7; centre of valve cluster at c 613mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (1,2,3) 15.4; m.t.s. at c 1006mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 15.4; 1805mm from bell end, c 22.2; c 1464mm from bell end, 31.4. B = 0.51 Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 14.1 - 14.1. Serial number crudely scribed on outer of 1st valve tuning slide: "21810 1". Retaining thumbscrew for 2nd valve and touchpieces for 1st and 2nd valves are replacements, brass instead of silver finish but matching reasonably in style. Usable pitch: Plays c 20 cents below A4 = 440 Hz. Performance characteristics: Poor intonation; A3 very flat.
