DescriptionTechnical description: boxwood with ivory ferrules and brass keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece (not original), barrel, upper section, lower section, bell, 13-keys. Long slightly bulbous barrel with two ivory ferrules. Upper section: Additional side E♭/B♭ key for R1. Small brass tube in the thumb hole to prevent the water from dripping out. Straight speaker, liner projects c 3mm into bore. Key for throat A crosses key for A flat key (on other instruments it is often vice versa). Side trill key for throat A-B♮ and throat B♭-C which also opens the F/C lever.Adaptable thumb rest. Touchpiece for R0 combined with the lever for E/B♮ for alternative fingering. Levers for L4 are guided with two unusual saddles and a bracket. Bell almost continuous. L0: T; speaker. L1: T; throat A♮; throat A♭. L2: T. L3: T; E♭₄/B♭₅. L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅. R0: alternative E₃/B♮₄. R1: T; F₄/C₆; E♭₄/B♭₅; trill key for throat A-B♮ and B♭-C. R2: T; R3: T; B♭₃/F♮₅;side B♮₃/F♯₅. R4: F/C; G♯/E♭. Keymount type: pillars. Keyhead type: modern. Overall size: 628 to top of barrel. Bore at C hole 14.9; at F₃ hole 14.9. Stamped on barrel, upper section, lower section and bell with "JS" monogram / " * / SIMIOT / ET / BRELET / A LYON / * / LA"; stamped on mouthpiece "JACQUES ALBERT / FILS / BRUXELLES". Repair History: Centre joint ivory ferrule broken; thumb hole liner in poor condition. Lowest tenon with cork, the other tenons with cord, later improved with red silk paper.
