DescriptionTechnical description: Cocus; 5 sections; german silver keys; 7 slim german silver ferrules; metal-lined head; tuning-slide; graduated screw-stopper; cork set into wood beneath touches to minimise key noise; oval embouchure-hole; large L2 and R2 finger-holes; cork-lapped tenons. Keymount type: knob. Keyhead type: saltspoon. Repair History: Cracks repaired; F key-hole stopped with cork. Overall size: 605 mm Sounding length: embouchure to foot, 524 mm Bore: conical Stamped with fleur-de-lis and "D'ALMAINE & CO / LATE / GOULDING & D'ALMAINE / SOHO SQUARE / LONDON". Performance characteristics: Range D⁴ - A⁶ (sounding E♭⁴ - B♭⁶). Forked F fingering extremely sharp, but apparently was used exclusively by a previous owner, due to stopped F key-hole and lack of key. Usable pitch: Sounding A⁴ c 439 Hz. |
