Superbone. This model developed by Ashley Alexander and/or Maynard Ferguson with Holton c 1970. Technical description: Lacquered brass; water-key on slide bow. R0: Valve type: 3 Périnet valves. Overall size: 1182; bell 222. Sounding length: minimum 2714. Bore: at c 40mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore), 10.4; expanding by 100mm from mouthpiece receiver to bore c 10.9; descending slide, 12.3; ascending slide, 12.3; all three v.t.s. 12.3; m.t.s. proximal leg bore, 15.1; at c 708mm from bell end, 17.4; m.t.s. distal leg bore, 20.7; at 38.8mm from bell end, 103.0. B = 0.64. Bell cutoff = 800 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: 12.1 - 11.2. Inscribed on bell "Holton / ELKHORN. WIS. U.S.A."; on blue plastic insert on each side of counterweight on main bow "HOLTON / ELKHORN. WIS."; on side of valve casings "1", "2", "3"; on valve section at joint with bell section "TR 395". With fitted case.
