Signature marks: Inscribed on bell "CLASS / A" / banner containing "50 MEDALS OF HONOUR" / monogram FB / "''Prototype'' / BESSON & Co. / 198 EUSTON ROAD / LONDON / ENGLAND" / five-pointed star; on side of valve casings, and top and bottom caps "4", "5", "6"; on 2nd valve casing: "BESSON & Co." / five-pointed star / "BREVETE", all within ellipse, and "107.104". Overall size: 480; bell 118. Sounding length: aircolumn length of shank 74.0. Bore: m.t.s. 11.3; v.t.s. (3, 2, 1) 11.3. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. of shank 10.5 - 9.7; external taper of shank 11.3 - 12.0; shank receiver taper on instrumnet 11.8 - 10.7. Decorative features: floral embellishment around inscription on bell. Accessories: with possibly original fitted wooden case, painted black. Repair History: The music card-holder fitting, mounted on the 3rd valve tuning slide outer leg, is probably not original as it is unplated. |
