Description

Technical description: Silver-plated brass, light-weight model with thin bell bead. Leadpipe enters 3rd valve casing at the right; 3rd valve loop leaves from 15° right of front and returns to 15° right of front; 1st valve loop leaves from right and returns to back; bellpipe exits 1st valve casing at 15° left of back. With single water-key. With shank for B♭. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, top-sprung with spring outside stem; alignment by key on piston. Repair History: Valve pistons copper-plated. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. on shank 9.6 8.8; external taper of shank 10.3 11.2; shank/crook receiver taper 11.6 11.1. Inscribed on bell "CLASS / A / 50 MEDALS OF HONOUR" / monogram FB / "BESSON & CO / Prototype / 198 EUSTON ROAD / LONDON"; on side of valve casings "34", "35" / "BESSON BREVETE" in ellipse / "60896"; there is no "36" on the third valve casing. Slightly crumpled bell. Plating worn in places. Valve pistons copper plated. Usable pitch: Old Philharmonic pitch.
