DescriptionTechnical description: Brass with german silver trim; main tuning-slide has fixed inner slide legs, moving outer; fitting for music card holder. Valve type: 3 rotary valves, buffers on rotor arms. Repair History: Some ferrules appear to be recent replacements, and joints and patches have been extensively touched up with soft solder. Although the result is hardly aesthetic, it has the air of being a faithful restoration to original playing condition. Overall size: 440; bell 207. Sounding length: minimum 2389. Bore: mouthpipe (minimum bore) 11.6; centre of valve cluster at c 177mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (1,2,3) 13.0; m.t.s. at c 295mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 13.5; m.t.s. at c 628mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 14.2; 1194mm from bell end, c 19.7; c 786mm from bell end, 27.85; 19.1mm from bell end, 143.9. B = 0.51. Bell cutoff = 800 Hz. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 12.3 11.9. No inscriptions. Probably from Spain. Purchased by lender with and said by previous owner to have been formerly used with mouthpiece (4084). |
