DescriptionTechnical description: Ivory; 4 sections; silver key; 4 silver ferrules plus cap; small circular embouchure-hole with slight notch in it. Overall size: 614 mm Sounding length: embouchure to foot: 547 mm Bore: conical Keymount type: ring; SATK. Keyhead type: flat square, notched and chamfered. Stamped with small fleur-de-lis and "BIZEY". Performance characteristics: Range D⁴ - A⁶. Plays well throughout range. If the notch in the embouchure-hole is intended to be on the side away from the player, this may indicate that it was played left-handed, but the flute speaks easily either way. Usable pitch: A⁴ c 420 Hz (c 422 Hz). Repair History: Originally SATB; key may be a replacement; embouchure and finger-holes very worn, and may have been altered to raise the pitch of the instrument. Slight cracks in head and foot sockets, not imparing tone production; one ferrule missing: marks on head (clamp marks? imprints of string? plus three oval shapes). Originally SATB; key may be a replacement; embouchure and finger-holes very worn, and may have been altered to raise the pitch of the instrument.
