DescriptionTechnical description: Ebony with ivory ferrules and silver keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell. Very elegant instrument. No cross E♭₄/B♭₅, but side F₄/C₆. L4 levers in saddle. 13 keys, 1 roller on end pivoted F₃/C₅. L0: T; speaker. L1: T; throat A♮; throat A♭. L2: T. L3: T; side F₄/C₆. L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅. R1: T; side E♭₄/B♭₅; side trill key for throat A-B♮ and B♭-C. R2: T. R3: T; B♭₃/F♮₅; side B♮₃/F♯₅. R4: F₃/C₅; G♯₃/E♭₅. Keymount type: pillars and plates, saddles. Keyhead type: salt spoons. Condition: Mouthpiece missing. Repair History: Shackleton recorded `speaker key broken, part A♭ key lost, ivory thumb-rest broken off, ivory bell-ring missing'.
