Technical description: Blackwood with ivory ferrules and thumb-rest, and silver keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, and bell. Original named ebony mouthpiece grooved for cord. All keys mounted in wooden blocks. Levers for L4, tone-hole and key for R4 mounted in a fusiform swelling. 13 keys.

L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅.

Keyhead type: flat round. Repair History: Crack in mouthpiece glued.
Keymount type: wooden blocks and swelling.
(5291), (5490), and (5491) in a wooden box lined with soft pale beige leather. Also in box one extra barel for each instrument, 3 original named mouthpieces, 1 unstamped rosewood mouthpiece in a case, cord, and a key for the box.
Crack in mouthpiece glued.
(5291) in A, (5490) in B♭, and (5491) in C are a matched set of clarinets.
