DescriptionTechnical description: Brass with german silver touchpieces. `Modèle français', with the valves positioned to the left of both mouthpipe and bellpipe. Leadpipe enters 3rd valve casing at the front; 3rd valve loop leaves from left and returns to left; bellpipe exits 1st valve casing at the back. With single water-key. With shanks for B♭ and A, crooks for A♭ and G, all brass. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, top-sprung with spring inside hollow stem; alignment by screwed pin through slots in stem, this pin also serving to locate fixed end of spring. Maker: G. Besson. Paris. 1849 57, probably c 1851. Serial number: 562 (probably Distin's number). Overall size: 296; bell 126. With fitted wooden case, having spaces for the above and also for an F crook. Probable original crook for F missing.
