Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, bottom sprung; alignment by key on piston. Repair History: Patch c 9mm on bell rim. Maker: Probably Bohland & Fuchs. Overall size: 568; corpus diameter c 290; bell 257. Sounding length: minimum 2000. Bore: mouthpipe at c 30mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 10.0; centre of valve cluster at c 183mm from mouthpiece receiver, v.t.s. bore (1,2,3) 11.7; m.t.s. at c 569mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 11.7; m.t.s. at c 716mm from mouthpiece receiver, tuning slide bore 12.7; 1000mm from bell end, c 14.5; c 644mm from bell end, 20.5. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 10.6 10.0. Inscribed on mouthpiece receiver ferrule "AUSTRIA"; on side of valve casings "55", "56 / 4 / B & F", "57"; on side of bell "MARCEAUX / PARIS / THOM. PIRONE / NEW YORK". Probably from Graslitz, Austria. Patch c 9mm on bell rim. Usable pitch: With tuning slide fully in plays 30 cents above A4 = 440 Hz. Usable main tuning slide extension c 80mm each leg, with a line marking 40mm. Purchased with mouthpiece (3718), obviously not appropriate. |
