DescriptionTechnical description: Silver-plated brass, tubing bow over valves. The windway leads to the 1st valve; if the 1st valve is not operated, thence via the 2nd and 3rd valves and back via the 1st valve to the bell; if the 1st valve is operated, then via different passages through the 2nd and 3rd valves with longer valve loops and back via the 1st valve to the bell. The longer 2nd valve loop has no tuning-slide. Despite the inscription, the valve system is not compensating but `full double', virtually the same as the Besson & Co `Enharmonic Patent' of 1904. With water-key on main tuning-slide. Fitting for music card-holder. Valve type: 3 Périnet-type valves, bottom-sprung; alignment by key on piston. Serial number: instrument 60222; valves 49330. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was "Eb Tenor", Model A48 made by Bloomfield in a batch of 6. Overall size: 486; bell 175. Sounding length: minimum 1997. Inscribed on bell "CLASS.A" / trumpet and banner trademark incorporating "TRADEMARK" and "BOOSEY" / "PATENT / COMPENSATING PISTONS / BOOSEY & CO / MAKERS / 295 REGENT STT / LONDON / 60222"; on valve top caps "PATENT" and "31", "32", "33"; on side of valve casings "31", "32 / 49330 / PATENT" / diamond trademark; on valve bottom caps "31", "32", "33".
