DescriptionTechnical description: Boxwood with ivory ferrules and brass keys. Four pieces: mouthpiece and barrel one piece, upper section, lower section, bell. Mouthpiece of dark wood grooved with 11 grooves for cord. Barrel hardly waisted, with two ivory ferrules ornamented with grooves. Upper section: all blocks strengthened with brass pins. Speaker liner projects almost to centre of bore. Lower section: wide half-round ferrule, no thumb key. Levers for L4, tone-hole and key for R4 mounted in a bell-shaped swelling. Tone-holes under keys lined with brass. Bell: hardly continuous. Half-round rim on bell. L0: T; straight speaker. L1: T; throat A♮. L2: T. L3: T; cross E♭₄/B♭₅. L4: cross C♯₃/G♯₅; bascule E₃/B♮₄; zig-zag F♯₃/C♯₅. R1: T; side trill key for throat A-B♮ or B♭-C♮. R2: T; cross B♮₃/F♯₅. R3: T. R4: T; G♯₃/E♭₅. Keymount type: Blocks and bell-shaped swelling. Keyhead type: flat round. Crack of c 30mm above the upper section trill key; hole for L3 slightly chipped. Repair History: Old repaired crack in barrel. |
