DescriptionTechnical description: blackwood with plated metal probably german silver chromium-plated.Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell.Ebonite mouthpiece with a long table, ligature and reed-cap. Barrel bulbous in its lower half with two german silver ferrules.Upper section: straight speaker, liner projects almost into the middle of the bore. Lower section: thumb rest. Bell almost continuous. L0: T + ring + vent F₄/C♮₆; speaker. L1: T + ring F♯₄; throat A♮; throat A♭. L2: T + E♭₄/ B♭₅ corresponding ring. L3: T; cross E♭₄/ B♭₅, L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; F₃/C♮₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅. R1: T + ring; B♭ via correspondence; trills 1-2-3 R2: T + ring B♮₃/F♯₅; B♭ via correspondence. R3: T + ring B♮₃/F♯₅; B♭ via correspondence; cross B♮₃/F♯₅. R4: G♯₃/E♭₅; E₃/B♮₄; F₃/C♮₅; F♯₃/C♯₅. Keymount type: pillars Keyhead type: modern Serial number: 36635. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was made by Cage. "Bb Clarinet" Model 92b. Given out 2 Feb 1945; charged to Regent Street 29 Aug 1945 "Ord". Overall size: 669, 600 to top of barrel. Bore: at C₄ hole 14.9; at F₃ hole 15.9. Stamped on upper section "BOOSEY HAWKES LONDON" trademark and "36635" on back and on back of lower section; on bell "BOOSEY HAWKES LONDON" trademark. Barrel unstamped; mouthpiece stamped "3 / Calteau / MADE IN ENGLAND"; ligature stamped "BUFFET CRAMPON / FRANCE". With cardboard and vinyl case, foam fitted inside. Repair History: Barrel cracked and repaired with two pins. General usage of type: average non professional Boehm clarinet. |
