DescriptionTechnical description: silver-plated brass; stockings: one copper and one brass; water-key. Repair History: One stocking a replacement. According to the firm's archives [instruments books], the instrument was model B4039, made in a batch of twenty five. Overall size: 1105; bell 152. Bore: at c 40mm from mouthpiece receiver (minimum bore) 11.1; descending slide, 11.2; ascending slide, 11.2; m.t.s. 12.2 - 13.1. Dia of mouthpiece receiver: m.r.t. 11.9 - 11.4. Inscribed on bell "Artist's Perfected." / hawk and trumpet trademark / "Boosey & Hawkes / Ltd / Makers / 295 Regent St / London. W.1. / 163108". Decorative features: embossed floral motifs on ferrules and bow guards. Original fitted hard case, covered in black simulated leather. Fabric label inside lid inscribed "J B MAYERS & SONS / MUSICAL INSTRUMENT MANUFACTURERS / LIVERPOOL ROAD MANCHESTER". Usable pitch: Plays at Old Philharmonic pitch. Purchased with, probably formerly used with, and possibly supplied by maker with mouthpiece (4248). |
